Shoal Bay Foreshore Walk

Picturesque Shoal Bay! What better way to see it than on foot (with your 4 legged friend of course!) Shoal bay beach is 2.5km long and runs between Nelson Head, to the north and Tomaree Head to the northwest. The foreshore has a beautiful shady park with a footpath that runs the length of the beach, offering water views the entire way.

We recommend starting your walk by parking near the caravan park and heading along the pathway towards the headland. From here it is approximately a 30 minute walk out to the point that sits nestled under Tomaree Head.

About half way along the walk you will reach Shoal Bay Boat Ramp, this part of Shoal Bay beach is off leash before 9am and after 5pm. It is south of the boat ramp and goes all the way to the car park near Tomaree Headland

Marrungbanga reserve runs through Tomaree Lodge (heritage-listed former military camp). To access the reserve duck under the boom gate and the off leash dog park is located on the right. Continue following the waters edge out to the point where you will see the remnants of the Tomaree Head Fortifications from World War II.

After exploring the point we recommend locating the ‘Scoop and roll’ trike for mid morning snack or lunch. They are usually tucked under the shade of the trees (past the wharf towards the headland). Serving sushi, poke bowl, ice creams and ice cold drinks, they have something for everyone and perfect way to cool down. They even supply water bowls for your dog! Take a seat and relax, taking in the views of shoal bay, before heading back to the car.
